For any of you that may have been thinking about joining the convoy with Charlie Boorman today, and decided against it, all I can say is that you missed a memorable event.

There were approximately 400-500 starters, and when we got going (under police escort, forget the red lights, and cars/trucks keep your distance and stay put until all the bikes have passed you by) there was a procession a couple of kilometres long with bikes travelling in two lines to one traffic lane. We took over the Freeway, all three lanes, and car drivers did not know what to do or where to go other than keeping out of our way.

Wherever we went, people would stop and proceed to use mobile phones to catch the event on video. A sight that is rarely seen. The noise from the huge range of bikes was unbelieveable and brought people out of there houses to watch as the procession passed them by. Instead of taking an hour and a half to reach our destination on the Central Coast, it took three hours and you knew you had been riding for a while when we finally reached Frasers Beach.

Once there, it was only the bike riders left to get the memorable photograph with Charlie or have the token DVD or book signed. A big difference from when we met at Freshwater in the morning and shared the pre-ride with a huge crowd of Boorman fans that had turned-up for pictures, etc.

All in all, a great day, and one worth experiencing if you have never been involved with a group bike ride of those proportions!!!!

Along with the current trial for free motorcycle parking throughout their jurisdiction, the City of Sydney have also produced a motorcycle parking map of the Sydney CBD.

It's not completely up to date as there are now several new free motorcycle parking bays along Hickson Road (near The Bond and Wharf 8).
