Friday 8th March - Inaugural event - The Willoughby HotelOur first event was a real spinner, with over 50 bikers attending in the rain!! Local bike shops sponsored the evening by donating product and services. The highlight of the evening was definitely the auction where we raised $1,315 which we donated to Youth in Search, or was it the pick-ups (or lack thereof)? This event was organized by Louise Audova and a team of mates (particular thanks to her best mate Di Baily) - being a community event of her own choice, which was part of her participation in the Landmark Education Self Expression and Leadership Program. This was in aid of her new interest in motorcycling since August last year, and new marital status - yep you guessed it, single.

The outcome of this evening was an overwhelming response by those who attended to form a singles bike group - which we've since created, and has been brought together more recently with our new fancy web site, thanks to Sean Hawley, Kahrina Chan, Craig Brown and Louise Audova. We now have 150 people on our distribution list, and an average of 20-25 bikers attending our rides. To organise our group takes time and many hands, so we have an informal committee that meet every month. - Louise |

Sunday 31st March - Ride to Comet's Inn, Hartley ValeThis was our first group ride, with approx 30 people turning up despite the rain again.. we had questionable weather starting out. It was a spectacular ride, and the weather turned out just gorgeous! We labelled this our turtle ride, being Easter Sunday double demerit points and because we saw a REAL turtle on the road. (how appropriate was that?!) We stopped for a BBQ lunch at Comet's Inn at Hartley Vale, which was the quaintest pub/B&B, with the friendliest hosts and lots of interesting paraphernalia to occupy us. Try the coffin in the back shed or all the railway signs. Then again, some of us hit the paddock for a social, but violent, game of cricket - good thing Jeff is a chiro & could treat his own knee injury! This ride also marked the making of our first couple... (they'll kill me!) and the discovery of the pleasure of pillioning on a soft-tail. |
