The guy from the NRMA was a champion. He was willing to give me all of the spare fuel he had. I only took a little, as it was regular unleaded, and then he only charged me for the fuel he gave me, although I threw in a few dollars more.
I think he felt sorry for me, watching me pushing the bike uphill in my leathers in yesterdays heat.
I knew i was pushing my fuel range but I was only 3km? short of a servo when she ran dry!
What a beautiful day to go riding - warm and sunny and a taste of things to come. We headed off a little late (due to a misunderstanding of start times - never rely on committee members!) but it was all systems go with Tamsin taking charge and holding the fort. We welcomed back Mr. and Mrs. Willard looking rather smug, fresh and relaxed from their honeymoon overseas and took off with 11 bikers including a few new faces. The ride to Kangaroo Valley was pleasant and uncomplicated and we all stopped for lunch at KV. Some then parted company and the rest of us headed through Berry, Jamberoo mountain and home. Unfortunately, there was no corner markers off the freeway and from what I have heard four riders lost the group on the way home. I headed to Stanwell Tops to cool off and met up with the riders there and we all rode through the Nasho home. One of us ran out of fuel on the Nasho and the NRMA passed by and fuelled them up - how lucky is that! other than losing the group on the way home - it was a great days riding again.
ps. When I fist joined BA some two years ago, the committee was strong with at least ten accomplished riders willing to help out on each ride and supporting each other -- these days those numbers have almost diminshed and the committee is mostly made up of average riders with limited experience. If you have riding experience and your able to allocate yourself to committing to say one ride, let us know so we go all enjoy the sport we love and keep Bikers Anon afloat.
Cheers
